The 2009 conference, hosted by Standardbred Canada and held again in conjunction with the Canadian Gaming Summit, focused exclusively on Standardbred wagering and the theme for the conference was “driving innovation”. The conference provided an opportunity for Standardbred Canada to update the industry on the Wagering Action Plan and work on the future of horse race wagering as a unified group. With this year’s conference being held in Windsor, on the Canada-US border, the conference had more of a North American focus, attracting stakeholders from across the continent. The conference kicked off with a full day of sessions on Tuesday, April 28, and continued for a half day on Wednesday, April 29 with an industry meeting in the afternoon.
