After having handled $9.8 million in the month of December, 'instant racing' machines at Kentucky Downs continue to take in more money month after month.
A report by the Lexington Herald-Leader explains that the machines took in $10.9 million during the month of January, an increase of 11.1 per cent over the month of December.
Kentucky Downs is currently the only raceway in the state operating the machines, but Ellis Park for thoroughbreds is expected to offer the slots-like machine this coming April.
Instant Racing machines see bettors wager on unknown, previously-run horse races, which are also referred to as 'historical races.'

Well I suppose the live racing industry should do as it has forever. Ignore this and similar customer(wagering public)requests. The facts are clea. Even in one of the original hotbeds of live racing the wagering public clearly prefer "historical slot wagering on previously run races". Cause and effect is often a difficult thing to judge and access. However the highest %age takeout on "horse slot wagering" is 5% and in live horse racing it is 3 to 5 times higher. Any chance that could be a big part of the problem?
