The New Hampshire Senate has voted to ban live dog racing in the state, following the action of the legislature in neighboring Massachusetts.

Proponents noted that the two remaining dog tracks in New Hampshire, Seabrook and Belmont, no longer offer live racing, surviving on simulcasting, and banning the sport will save the state regulatory expenses.

Opponents argued that the tracks, not the state, should decide on the prudence of racing. HB360 now moves back to the New Hampshire House.
