During the Thursday session of qualifiers at Hiawatha Horse Park, veteran horseman Fred Drouillard suffered a broken hip after his horse veered off the track and collided with one of the light standards.
Drouillard, the developer of standout pacing mare Burning Point, was qualifying homebred three-year-old pacing filly Random Chance at Hiawatha, and as a result of the accident Random Chance died instantly.
