What A Rose captured Sunday’s $12,638 MSSBA Futurity Final for three-year-old pacers, and in doing so she nabbed the biggest payday of her career.

Owned and trained by Arthur Rey of St. Claude, MB, the daughter of Prince Brian-Countess P J went first-over on pacesetter Art For The Heart who supplied the field with fractions of :30.3, :59.4 and 1:30.3 before succumbing to pressure.

Roland Rey, who also bred What A Rose, used a :31.1 final frame to post the half-length score over Classicandregal in a career-best clocking of 2:01.4. Third prize in the seven-horse affair went to Notch Yer Best.

The victory improved the sophomore’s 2010 record to 4-2-0 in six attempts, and the lion’s share of the purse boosted her career bankroll to $12,638.
